What is a Single Girder Goliath Crane?

A Single Girder Goliath Crane (also known as a Single Girder Gantry Crane) is a free-standing lifting system that runs on rails installed at ground level. Unlike EOT cranes that operate on elevated runway beams, Goliath cranes are supported by two legs that move along floor-mounted tracks.
The crane consists of:

A single horizontal bridge girder

Two supporting legs with wheel assemblies

A wire rope hoist mounted below the girder

Ground-level rail system
It provides three-directional movement:
✔ Vertical lifting (Hoisting)
✔ Cross travel of hoist along girder
✔ Long travel of entire crane along ground rails
This configuration makes SG Goliath cranes highly suitable for open yards and areas where building structures cannot support overhead cranes.
